Cagliari

Founded by the Phoenicians in the 7th century BC, Cagliari has been subject to numerous invasions by various groups. Phoenicia, Carthage, the Roman Empire, the Arab tribes, the Pisan Republic and the Spanish Monarchy have all left an indelible mark on the city's history and architecture.
You'll visit the panoramic Monte Urpinu Square, where you can enjoy a beautiful and picturesque view of Poetto Beach and the city. You will also find there the Basilica of the Madonna di Bonaria which was built by the Spaniards in the 15th century.

After a short bus or car ride, you’ll take a beautiful walk through the medieval Castello area of the city. There, you can see the castle walls and Pisan towers of San Pancrazio and Elefante, built by the Pisans in the 14th century. The Cathedral of Santa Maria, also found there, is famous for its beautiful marble pulpit and the San Remy and Santa Croce ramparts.

From the small panoramic piazza of the Castle, you can enjoy beautiful views of the city and the gulf.

After the tour, you'll have free time to stroll along the main shopping streets — Via Manno, Via Garibaldi, Largo Carlo Felice and Via Roma.

It's possible to organise a visit to the San Benedetto Market upon request. This is the largest covered market in Italy and all of Europe. It has fish, meat, fruit, vegetable, other types of food stalls and various services.
